TL;DR

- Thermostat.io is the dedicated NPS® tool in the list. (As in it can only be used for NPS® surveys)

- Free tools that don't offer NPS® surveys in its free version are Survio and Startquestion.

Now let’s look at each tool in detail!!
10 Best & Free NPS® Survey Tools
The following are ten of the best and free NPS® tools you should look into. I have personally tried and tested each tool, offering genuine insights to my best efforts.
1. SurveySparrow
G2 Rating: 4.4/5 (2000+ reviews)
Although the name indicates that the tool only supports surveys, SurveySparrow is much more than just that. From Simple surveys to brand reputation and experience management, it supports a wide variety of options. Among them one of the key tools is their NPS® software.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
I think one of the key features that makes SurveySparrow one of the best NPS® tools is its multi-channel distribution capabilities. I was able to share my surveys through WhatsApp as well as collect feedback through offline surveys. I personally think not many survey tools offer more than 10 channels to share the surveys.
Another thing was the real-time analytics, like every time someone completes the surveys I can see the results. And that’s not just it. You can make customer dashboards to track down the change in results. One such example is shown below.
I loved how scalable the tool can be. As in, they provide features for startups as well as enterprises. Not to mention the integration capabilities that make it easy to adapt to my current tech stack.
AI-powered survey builder was the star of the free version for me. It’s super easy and customizable, cutting down the survey creation time by 90%.
A few notable features that’s available in the free trial and paid version are brand reputation management, ticket management, and text analytics.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
The free version of the tool provided me with options to create 3 unique surveys and collect up to 50 responses per month.
It also offered a 14-day free trial that allowed me to check on their top-tier features.
What I Disliked About the Tool
Every tool has its drawbacks and so does SurveySparrow. The surveys built with the AI feature includes all kinds of survey questions. This is good, but sometimes I don’t need any NPS® questions in the mix. So, that’s one.
The other thing was the limited access to their new and top features - specifically CogniVue. Though I was able to see the feature and what kind of data it can provide, It wasn’t in the free trial to test the feature.
What’s the Pricing Like?
There are quite a few plans to look into. For individuals, the starting price is like $19 per month. And for Teams, the pricing starts at $79 per month. There is a difference in how many surveys you can do, the amount of responses you can collect and so on.
Also, they offer a complete CX suite for $249 per month, as well as a custom option.
Both reputation and ticket management have separate pricing. More details regarding the pricing can be found in their pricing page.

2. Satismeter
G2 Rating: 4.7/5 (30+ reviews)
SatisMeter is a comprehensive feedback collection management software from Productboard. It allows us to create customer surveys to collect and analyze feedback. An NPS® tool is one among the many tools they provide.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
Though not that extensive, I was able to share the NPS® survey through web, mobile, and email. The integration capability was also good, but merging into your existing tech stack can be tricky. If you want to integrate with tools like Salesforce and Zapier, you can do it. However, they don't provide integration with tools like HubSpot and PowerBI.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
I created a couple of surveys with the free version. As for the responses, it allows up to 25 responses per month only. They don't say anything about the number of surveys that can be created, but as I said I was able to create 2 surveys.
What I Disliked About the Tool
It's very basic at best. I know the tool is relatively new, but still the functionalities are basic. The types of surveys to build are limited and the only way to extract data is through a CSV file.
What’s the Pricing Like?
There is a Growth and Enterprise plan. The Growth plan pricing starts at $199 per month. As for the Enterprise plan, you will have to connect with their team for details.
3. Jotforms
G2 Rating: 4.7/5 (3000+ reviews)
Jotform is a survey form builder app that's best known for its pre-designed templates. They provide more than ten thousand surveys and form templates, which is much more than any other tools provide. Recently, it has grown in popularity for creating payment and lead generation forms.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
The forms offered are highly customizable. So I was able to structure and design the NPS® survey to my requirement. Also, when it comes to feedback collection and analysis, Jotform tables are really good. It helps segment and analyze the data with ease.
I liked the integration capability as well, especially with MailChimp.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
I only created one form, but with the free version, we can create up to 5 forms. The monthly submission limitation is 100 with a storage space of 100 MB.
What I Disliked About the Tool
One thing I disliked was that I couldn't find a way to download numerical representations of form responses. Another thing was the lack of options to download data when shared with other non-account users.
What’s the Pricing Like?
Their pricing plans are threefold, namely - Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The starter plan, which is Bronze, starts at $34 per month for one user.
4. Survicate
G2 Rating: 4.6/5 (150+ reviews)
Survicate is another survey software you can consider to run NPS® surveys. It's highly intuitive but, at the same time, powerful as well. Be it a product, website, or mobile app, you can use Survicate to gather and analyze crucial feedback.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
First of all, the tool is insanely intuitive. I mean my team was able to implement it via tag manager, just like that.
With respect to NPS®, it offers a decent amount of channels to collect feedback. And it was really easy to integrate it with our internal system. Not to mention the NPS® numbers my team was able to extract and report on a single platform.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
They haven't specified the number of surveys we can create with the free plan. I created one and was able to collect up to 25 responses per month. But the attractive part was their insight hub. It connects all our feedback sources to the tool (Survicate) and extracts them automatically.
They also offer a 10-day free trial to test their best features.
What I Disliked About the Tool
In my experience, it can be a bit overwhelming for those who want to handle a lot of different surveys at a time. Also, some features that used to be in the free version are now only available with the paid version.
What’s the Pricing Like?
So, they provide four different pricing plans, namely - Good, Better, Best, and Better than the rest. The starting plan, which is Good, pricing starts at $99 per month.

5. Survio
G2 Rating: 4.4/5 (350+ reviews)
Survio survey software is the next in this list of top NPS® tools. It allows us to create and distribute surveys quickly for various purposes, including customer loyalty. The tool is very easy to use and implement, and the survey questions are highly customizable.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
I have already told you it's really easy to use, but with respect to NPS®, one of the key features is its real-time analytics. It allowed me to view my NPS® scores and customer feedback as responses come in. This capability is essential for making swift decisions based on customer insights, and I truly value how it keeps me informed and responsive.
Moreover, the surveys created in the tool are fully optimized for mobile devices. This makes it incredibly convenient for my customers to respond from their smartphones or tablets.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
You can create an unlimited number of surveys with any number of questions. However, you can only collect 50 responses per month.
What I Disliked About the Tool
The major downside I saw was that NPS® survey questions were only available with the PRO business plan. And that plan is like the highest pricing plan the tool offers.
What’s the Pricing Like?
They offer three paid plans - Mini, Standard, and PRO Business. The Mini plan allows us to gather 150 responses per month for one user. And the pricing of the plan is €12 per month.
6. Survey Kiwi
G2 Rating: 4.3/5 (40+ reviews)
From their own words, Survey Kiwi is a cloud SaaS that helps with creating aesthetic yet professional surveys. More importantly, its main focus is on mobile surveys. It works on any device making the mobile UX absolutely stunning.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
There are a couple of things I liked about the tool which subsequently makes it a good NPS® tool. The first one is how aligned it is for mobile surveys. Like whatever the type of mobile devices, the survey quality remains strong.
Secondly, the distribution channels. Breaking the norm, it also allows us to share surveys through WhatsApp, SMS, and even social networks.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
The free version, in my experience, is very limited, and I mean very. I, or anyone using the free version, can create survey campaigns and collect only 10 responses per month.
What I Disliked About the Tool
Setting up the tool is the most tedious process I have ever witnessed. As for the support team, I felt them to be rather lethargic. And it turns out, I wasn't the only one who felt that way. The reviews I skimmed through also mention the same.
What’s the Pricing Like?
Survey Kiwi also offers 3 different paid plans - Bronze, Silver, and Gold. The Bronze plan charges $7 per month (billed annually) for one user and allows us to collect 100 responses per month.
7. Thermostat.io
G2 Rating: 4.3/5 (40+ reviews)
If you are looking for a tool just for NPS®, then try Thermostat. It's a dedicated NPS® software that helps us measure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
The fact that it is an NPS® tool and not a survey tool itself answers the question. But what I like about the tool is its single-question surveys. As in, we can ask for a simple one-question survey with an optional feedback box. This approach essentially reduces survey fatigue and improves response rate.
Another reason it's best is its user-friendliness. There was an option to add to the list of emails, and the tool shared the NPS® surveys through them with one click.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
The free option is generous in terms of collecting feedback - 200 responses per month. However, we can only have one active survey at a time.
What I Disliked About the Tool
It can be used for NPS® surveys only. There are other tools, such as SurveySparrow, that offer wider features for the same pricing and better efficiency.
What’s the Pricing Like?
Three main paid plans - Pro, Premium, and Enterprise. They charge an amount of $49 per month for their Pro plan. The plan allows us to have 5 active surveys, and collect up to 1000 responses per month.
I also like how there's a 30-day money-back guarantee from their side. So, if you are not satisfied by the paid version of the tool, connect with their team and get your money back.
8. Startquestion
G2 Rating: 4.8/5 (15+ reviews)
Startquestions is an online survey platform that you can use to create and share NPS® surveys. The tool is fairly easy to use and provides a diverse range of features to help gather key customer insights.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
One thing I was impressed with was their dripping survey invitation feature. It sends out invitations to 1% of our customer base every day for 100 days. This way it offers a continuous way to track and monitor customer pulse.
In my perspective, this is one of the perfect ways to monitor our NPS® scores. Over this period of time, we can understand where the dip score is coming from and work towards it to improve the score.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
We can create an unlimited number of surveys with the free version but can only have one active survey. As for the responses, we can collect only 25 responses per month. Much like SurveySparrow, they also make their AI survey creator available with the free version.
Otherwise, the free plan is limited.
What I Disliked About the Tool
There are limitations to how deeply we can customize a survey design. Also, there is a learning curve.
The fact that I had to be a paid member to run NPS® surveys made me frustrated. And even their Mini plan doesn't provide NPS® surveys. (I reached out to my network to learn about the tool, just in case if you are wondering)
What’s the Pricing Like?
There are various paid plans for Startquestion. The Mini plan is for basic purposes only. We can have 2 active surveys and collect up to 250 responses per month.
Other plans include Start, Business, Team, and a Custom plan for enterprises. For the Start plan, they charge $66 per month (billed annually). In this plan, you can get NPS® surveys.
9. Qualaroo
G2 Rating: 4.3/5 (40+ reviews)
Qualaroo, from ProProfs, is a customer feedback platform that helps us run NPS® surveys. It's designed to help businesses gather real-time insights from website and app users. Moreover, their Nudge™ allows us to send in-context surveys to engage with users without disrupting their experience.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
It offers all the basic features of the NPS® tool. For me, what I liked was the dashboard. We can see the NPS® score of the last 30 days together with the following data.
- Impressions on our surveys
- Total responses
- Complete response report
- Response rate
Also, they use IBM Watson-Powered Sentiment analysis to provide us with the underlying customer emotions behind each feedback.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
We can create an unlimited number of surveys, but the response limit per month is 50. On top of it, it allows us to send out 500 emails and offers 10,000 pageviews.
In my perspective, the tool might be suitable for startups looking to understand their NPS® score.
What I Disliked About the Tool
I'd say it lacks extensive customization capabilities. With other tools, I can design the survey to my needs and even filter out to create focused reporting. Both were absent in Qualaroo.
Also, the interface felt bloated and less intuitive.
What’s the Pricing Like?
They only have one paid plan, and its pricing starts at $19.99 per month when billed annually. We can get up to 100 responses per month, send out 5000 emails, and get 100,000 pageviews.
10. Delighted
G2 Rating: 4.7/5 (50+ reviews)
Delighted is a free customer experience management software we can use to collect and analyze feedback. It helps with monitoring key CX metrics such as NPS®, CSAT, CES, and more.
What Makes it a Good NPS® Tool?
What impressed me about the tool was that its NPS® platform is AI-driven, which itself is a plus point. It uses AI to determine the optimal timing and frequency for sending surveys. Ergo, improved response rate.
Survey throttling is another thing that caught my eye. This feature ensures that we don't reach out or send emails to the same person more than once. We can set the time period, and if it's within this time frame, it won't reach out to the same person.
What Can You Get From the Free Version?
We can create an unlimited number of surveys but can only collect 25 responses per month. Also, one user access only.
What I Disliked About the Tool
When there are multiple users involved, the scores (NPS®, CSAT, etc.) land in Salesforce (or whatever CRM you use). That is, when teams use it for CSAT, the NPS® scores get messed up...and vice versa.
What’s the Pricing Like?
There are four different paid plans to select from. They are - Starter, Growth, Advanced, and Premium. The Starter plan charges a rate of $ 17 per month when billed annually. The plan allows 2 users, however we can only collect 50 responses per month.
How I Shortlisted the NPS® Tools?
Obviously the first thing I did was to shortlist all the NPS® tools that are free. That alone summed up to 30. Then I removed the obvious ones, and those that aren’t much of use.
But, how did I do that? I checked for the following factors.
Ease of Use
I wanted a tool that was easy to use. This means it should have a simple design that lets me find what I need quickly. If I can navigate the tool without getting confused, it makes managing my NPS® account much smoother and more enjoyable.
Functionality and Features
Next, I looked at what features the tools offered. I needed tools that could help me track my contributions, check how my investments are performing, and plan for my retirement. The right features give me useful information to make smart decisions about my savings.
Customer Support
Customer support is very important to me. I wanted to know that if I had questions or ran into problems, there would be someone available to help me. Whether it’s through chat, email, or phone, good customer support makes sure I can get assistance when I need it.
Scalability
Scalability means that the tool should be able to grow with me. As my financial situation changes - like if I start saving more or want to change my investment strategy - I need a tool that can handle those changes. This way, I won’t have to switch to a different tool later on.
Reputation and Reviews
Finally, I checked the reputation and reviews of each tool. I wanted to see what other users thought about their experiences. Positive reviews can give me confidence that the tool works well and is trustworthy. If many people are happy with a tool, it’s a good sign that it might be a good choice for me too.
