Sales Executive Job Description

The role of Sales Executive is an intermediary between the organization and the clients. They answer client queries, offer advice, promote products and services, and negotiate contracts with clients and contracts to maximize returns and profits. In addition, they must collect and analyze information and prepare data and sales reports.

Sales executive duties often include (but are not limited to) establishing contact with clients, virtually or in person for new business opportunities. He/she would actively seek out new sales opportunities through cold calling, networking, and social media.

Job Responsibilities
  • A sales executive needs to collaborate with internal teams and suppliers to evaluate costs against expected market price points, and set structures to achieve profit targets.
  • Enhance the success of advertising strategies by boosting engagement (through social media and other digital marketing approaches) will be part of sales executive duties.
  • A sales executive is expected to exceed sales goals by implementing aggressive sales programs, overhauling processes, and facilitating market development.
  • Sales executive role and responsibilities include managing the entire sales cycle across customer accounts – as well as proposing and closing sales to achieve total revenue growth, profit, and customer satisfaction plans.
  • Sales executives have to apply proactive management strategies and enhanced sales training to grow sales and boost profits.
  • Developing SWOT analysis, and executing targeted sales strategies accordingly using data-driven decision-making, falls within the sales executive job scope. 
  • Other sales executive duties include coaching sales associates in product specifications, sales incentives, and selling techniques, significantly increasing customer satisfaction ratings.
  • A sales executive has to develop new business relationships and maintain existing ones through regular communications and effective account management.
Key Requirements
  • Bachelor’s/ Master’s degree with a focus on marketing, promotions, advertising sales, or business administration.
  • At least two years of industry sales experience
  • One to three years of management experience
