IT Administrator Job Description
The IT administrator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IT department, ensuring that all systems are functioning smoothly and securely. IT administrators are also responsible for designing and implementing data storage solutions, as well as developing and maintaining processes for data backup, disaster recovery, and system upgrades.
The IT Administrator’s role is to configure and manage the company's servers, workstations, network and security features. They will also be responsible for maintaining IT infrastructure with minimal downtime. Moreover, they will upgrade and install new hardware and software, perform troubleshooting, and back up data when required.
- IT administrators leverage information to forecast costs relating to software, hardware, and consulting.
- IT admins also create remote service interaction scenario manuals, defining appropriate triage and response policies for common ticket types.
- Performing internal audits and reviewing the deficiencies to suggest remedies is a key part of IT administration.
- IT administrator skills also include identifying computer hardware and network system issues, and performing troubleshooting techniques for remediation.
- IT admins review and assess architecture design, implementation, testing, and deployment needs to identify project requirements and costs.

- They also lead teams for software engineering services and support key clients in development efforts, establishing standards, determining specifications, and creating Service and Operational Level Agreements (SLA) and (OLA).
- IT administration plays a key role in ongoing network design, reevaluation, and optimization to keep pace with company growth.
- Degree in computer science, information systems, or similar, along with a related professional qualification such as Cisco or Oracle certifications.
- Proficiency in all major operating platforms.
- Excellent time management and problem solving skills. .
- Willingness to work in an all-hours environment/ rotational shifts.
